When Sylvia Guenther, founder of Bridal Boutique Resale & Consignment opened her store in 1998, she dreamed of one day bringing her daughter Michelle Beville into the business. A year ago this mother and daughter teamed up, and together, are providing a much-needed service for women who want to sell their gently worn designer gowns (see Criteria For Selling Your Gown) or for brides who want to purchase a designer gown, but do not want to spend a fortune.

Prior to opening her store, Sylvia worked 24 years at Honeywell (formerly known as AlliedSignal Aerospace) in several executive capacities, the last one in Industrial Engineering as a Technical Publications Analyst. Even though she loved her work, she always dreamed of one day owning her own bridal store.

Michelle worked 8 years at The Millennium Resort (formerly known as the Regal McCormick Ranch) as their Regional Catering & Sales Manager, followed by 2 years in the same capacity for Troon North Golf Club. She worked daily with brides and learned first hand the expense and stress that goes into planning a wedding.

Well, as it does for every little girl…the day soon came to plan Michelle's very own wedding! And because of her line of work…she knew exactly what she wanted. Little did Sylvia and Michelle know that they were both in the middle of what would soon to be a life long job for them both! It was during this time that they found out just how expensive it was to plan a wedding. Sylvia said, "All you had to do was say that it was for a wedding and the price instantly was doubled or tripled!" Every decision was based on emotion and soon they were above (and substantially above) their budget. The wedding day was perfect…and not one detail was overlooked thanks to the beautiful job done by The Millennium Resort and their staff!

After the wedding they had time to reflect on the entire wedding planning experience and could clearly see areas where they could have saved a lot of money. The gown was the first thing they thought about because they now owned a beautiful gown that had cost them thousands of dollars that was worthless. It was now entombed in a huge box that would eventually become a real eye sore and end up in the garage, attic, anywhere…just out of their sight where it would not be a constant reminder of the money invested in a gown that would never be worn again. This is why so many women are happy to sell their gowns! They are thrilled just knowing that someone else will enjoy the beauty of their gown!

One of the first expenses of a wedding is the wedding gown. As soon as a couple gets engaged, it's off to purchase "the wedding gown". Now remember to stay focused. Shop wisely. You will only wear this gown for a few hours and don't talk yourself into the more expensive gown by telling yourself that your daughter will want to wear it when she gets married. She won't. You didn't wear your mother's gown and your daughter will not wear yours. Very few girls, if any, follow that tradition anymore.

It was after Michelle's wedding that they knew that they had to do something to help women stay within their budget or to help them recoup some of the money spent on the gown.  They came up with the idea for the store and the motto…Elegance Can Be Affordable…and saving money can begin with the gown! Their goal was simple…to offer the bride affordable prices for all her wedding needs.

Every little girl dreams of her wedding day, unfortunately not all brides or their families have thousands of dollars to spend.

They have a good selection of plus size gowns, as well. If you don't see something you like, they can order your gown at a very reasonable rate.  Please ask to see their catalogue, They make sure that you choose a style that is right for you. Whatever your taste they are sure to have something uniquely perfect for you!
